I’ve been a full-time broadcaster and voiceover artist since 1992 with my background being in radio. My first job was reading the traffic news on local radio before having my own drive-time show.

I then spent time as a national radio newsreader on Virgin Radio (now Absolute), then in 1997 was offered the chance to be a flying eye traffic reporter over Birmingham then London from a twin-engined Piper Seneca aeroplane which I thought might be fun for six months.

Five years, half a million air miles, two engine failures (thankfully not at the same time) and countless near misses later, maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing that spotter planes ceased to be the fashion so I moved over to full-time voiceover work.

These days you’ll hear my voice just about everywhere:

  • Radio, TV and online commercials
  • Live and pre-recorded ‘Voice of God‘ for awards ceremonies
  • Youtube channels
  • Many football related productions
  • Corporate film narrations
  • E-learning
  • Telephone on-hold prompts
  • TV Promos
  • Recorded public address announcements
  • I’m also a very experienced writer and television continuity announcer, having worked for Men & Motors (car strand) and UKTV. I’ve also written for Norwegian Air as their in-flight entertainment voice. If you’re off to Poland I’ve been the in-flight safety voice for LOT.

Probably my best-known voice over work though is as the in-programme voice for high-profile TV shows including Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, I’m a celebrity…get me out of here, Beat the Star, Text Santa, Duel and Andrew Lloyd Webber: 40 Musical Years.

I’ve also worked as an occasional freelance sound technician for remote national radio interviews. An afternoon spent sitting alone in a hotel room with Pele being one of my more surreal experiences!

Here’s a spot of rare flying-eye reporter footage from my airborne days; hard to believe that phone cameras were pretty scarce back then so very little footage remains. Anyway, buckle up and enjoy the ride!
